Ce ne avevano parlato molto bene, e quindi abbiamo deciso di visitarla.
Una sorpresa incredibile si è presentata ai nostri occhi.
Considerata dai locali una tra le più belle città del Messico, se non LA più bella, posta nel mezzo del Paese, racchiude un tessuto urbano unico nel suo genere, una forte vita culturale, città universitaria dove la frenesia studentesca vi accompagna nella scoperta di questa città insieme ad una movida in puro stile messicano.

Guanajuato, capitale dell'omonimo stato del Messico situata a 370 km nord/ovest da Città del Messico ad una altitudine di 1996 m slm, ci offre tutto il suo fascino, non comparabile con altri luoghi.
Città coloniale dagli edifici che rappresentano gli elementi base della cultura indigena e spagnola, fu raccomandata per tre anni di seguito (2014, 2015 e 2016) dalla Rivista Sezioni del Reader's Digest, come luogo turistico del Messico assolutamente da visitare.

Il centro storico di Guanajuato è di una bellezza incredibile: non per niente è stata dichiarata dall'UNESCO parte del Patrimonio dell'Umanità nel 1988.
E i luoghi da visitare sono innumerevoli.

L'Università di Guanajuato è un edificio che vale la pena visitare, anche solo per sedersi sulla sua scalinata principale e ammirarne la maestosa architettura, circondati dagli studenti.

Il Museo delle Mummie: una grande collezione di corpi perfettamente conservati, dalla pelle ai denti ai vestiti di sepoltura.
Troviamo corpi di criminali, di vittime dell'Inquisizione spagnola, di bambini vestiti come santi, ma anche corpi dissotterrati dal Cimitero cittadino: se la famiglia non può permettersi di pagare la tassa per tenere il proprio caro nella cripta, il corpo, se in buone condizioni, va al Museo.
Troviamo la prima mummia dissotterrata nel 1865, perfettamente conservato con i suoi abiti, del medico francese Remigio Leroy, e la mummia più piccola al mondo: un feto piccolissimo trovato nel grembo della madre.
I genitori di un bimbo morto a sei mesi nel 1999, vanno a trovarlo al Museo...
Può sembrare macabro ai nostri occhi, ma dovete sapere che i messicani hanno un approccio alla morte, totalmente diverso... per il popolo del Messico la morte è una celebrazione al ciclo della vita.
Avendo visto e sopratutto vissuto questa esperienza, posso dire che anche io ho cambiato il mio modo di affrontare i lutti passati...

The Museum of Mummies: a large collection of perfectly preserved bodies, from skin to teeth to burial clothes.

Nell'ultima settimana di luglio Guanajuato (e San Miguel de Allende) ospitano l'Expresión en Corto International Film Festival, il più grande festival cinematografico del Messico e tra i più famosi dell'intera America Latina.
Il festival, di rilievo internazionale, è gratuito per il pubblico e mette in mostra oltre 400 film dalle 10 del mattino alle 4 del pomeriggio di ogni giorno in 16 luoghi, tra cui alcuni suggestivi quali le strade sotterranee e i tunnel, il Museo delle Mummie e il cortile del comune (Panteónes).
In the last week of July Guanajuato (and San Miguel de Allende) host the Expresión en Corto International Film Festival, the largest film festival in Mexico and among the most famous in the whole of Latin America.
The internationally renowned festival is free for the public and showcases over 400 films from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon every day in 16 places, including some suggestive ones such as underground roads and tunnels, the Museum of Mummies and the courtyard of the municipality (Panteónes).
Ogni ottobre la città ospita il Festival Internacional Cervantino, un festival internazionale di arte che prende il nome da Miguel de Cervantes.
Il festival è particolarmente famoso e attrae spettatori da tutto il mondo ma sopratutto i giovani del Messico centrale. E' talmente importante che è un richiamo di prim'ordine per i turisti: spettacoli teatrali e musicali invadono le strade con le serenate dei Callejoneadas, rendono Guanajato una grande festa per tutti.
Every October, the city hosts the Internacional Cervantino Festival, an international art festival named after Miguel de Cervantes.
The festival is particularly famous and attracts spectators from all over the world and especially young people from central Mexico. Durante la Settimana Santa e a metà dicembre, si tiene il Festival Medievale, una fiera che si svolge in centro paese, con parate, cibo e musica medievale.
Le persone si vestono con dell'epoca e gli addobbi cittadini sono adeguati all'evento.

Tante persone mi chiedono continuamente se il Messico è sicuro... Qui si potrebbe aprire una ampia discussione, ma questo non è il post giusto. Ma voglio solo informare i miei lettori (e spero futuri "turistifaidate") che camminare attraverso Guanajato è sicuro: l'alta attenzione e stretta vigilanza della polizia verso il turista, fa si di poter godere lo spettacolo che ci offre.
Naturalmente, non è tutto "rose e fiori": non inoltratevi nella periferia della città (dalla Panoramica), nelle prime ore del mattino o dopo il tramonto. Nelle ore buie potreste incontrare stupratori e rapinatori che non aspettano altro di danneggiare i visitatori stranieri.
- Ricordatevi sempre... ovunque andiate nei Paesi latini e in tutto il Messico... la povertà è a livelli altissimi.
Ora poi anche a causa della pandemia dovuta al Covid-19, la stragrande maggioranza della popolazione ha perso il lavoro e non hanno di che sfamare se stessi e la propria famiglia....

Many people continually ask me if Mexico is safe ... A wide discussion could open here, but this is not the right post. But I just want to inform my readers (and I hope future "turistifaidate") that walking through Guanajato is safe: the high attention and close vigilance of the police towards the tourist makes it possible to enjoy the show it offers us.
Of course, it's not all "roses and flowers": do not go to the outskirts of the city (from the Panoramica), in the early morning or after sunset. In the dark hours you may encounter rapists and robbers who are waiting for nothing else to harm foreign visitors.
- Always remember ... wherever you go in Latin countries and all over Mexico ... poverty is at the highest levels.
Now then also due to the pandemic due to Covid-19, the vast majority of the population has lost their jobs and have nothing to feed themselves and their family ....
