Uxmal è un importante sito archeologico maya situato in Messico, nella penisola dello Yucatán, a circa 78 km da Mérida e a 170 km da Campeche, in direzione sud-ovest.
l sito è stato proclamato patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO.
La cittadina è piccolissima e due sono le principali attrazioni da visitare: la zona archeologia e il Museo del Cacao, praticamente situati uno di fronte all'altro.
Uxmal is an important Mayan archaeological site located in Mexico, in the Yucatán peninsula, about 78 km from Mérida and 170 km south-west from Campeche.
The site has been declared from UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The town is very small and there are two main attractions to visit: the archeology area and the Cocoa Museum, practically located opposite each other.
Conviene arrivarci con un auto a noleggio per avere la libertà di muoversi a proprio gradimento, in quanto i trasporti pubblici (bus) sono quasi inesistenti... non sai mai a che ora passano.
Ci sono 4 alberghi, 3 situati vicinissimi alla zona archeologica, e uno a circa 2 km...
Naturalmente... abbiamo prenotato quello più lontano...
Uxmal Restort Maya un bellissimo albergo, pulito, con piscina, ristorante ecc ecc... unica pecca, non dispone di un servizio di trasporto da e per la fermata del bus e dei siti... Quindi... a piedi!!! e con gli zaini in spalla, all'ora più calda della giornata... non è stato piacevole! e anche spostarsi dall'hotel alla zona archeologica di notte... beh! un po' di paura l'ho avuta!!
It is better to get there with a rental car to have the freedom to move, as public transport (buses) are almost... non-existent ... you never know at what time they come...
There are 4 hotels, 3 located very close to the archaeological area, and one about 2 km ...
We booked the one further away ... of course...
Uxmal Restort Maya a beautiful hotel, clean, with swimming pool, restaurant etc etc ... only a problem.., does not have a transport service to and from the bus stop and sites ... So ... b feet !!! and with backpacks on our shoulder, at the hottest hour of the day ... it was not pleasant! and also move from the hotel to the archaeological area at night ... well! a bit 'of fear I had it!!

Dichiarata patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO, emerge in modo spettacolare tra una vegetazione lussureggiante, è una delle zone archeologiche della cultura Maya la cui architettura è una delle più maestose dello Yucatan.
La sua bellezza è caratterizzata dall'avere palazzi bassi e orizzontali, disposti attorno a cortili o quadrangoli, che sono ricchi di decorazioni, di sculture molto dettagliate realizzate con migliaia di piccole pietre perfettamente levigate e regolate che formano mosaici geometrici di una perfezione strabiliante.
UXMAL - Archaeological area
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it emerges spectacularly among lush vegetation, is one of the archaeological areas of the Mayan culture whose architecture is one of the most majestic in the Yucatan.
Its beauty is characterized by having low and horizontal buildings, arranged around courtyards or quadrangles, which are rich in decorations, of very detailed sculptures made with thousands of perfectly smoothed and regulated small stones that form geometric mosaics of an amazing perfection.
Si dice che la città di Uxmal fu fondata dalla tribù degli Xiues, risale al periodo pre-classico superiore A.C,, ma i lavori di costruzione più importanti sono stati eseguiti durante il tardo classico (600-1000 D.C.). Contava una popolazione di circa 20.000 abitanti.
Ora... tralasciando le nozioni storiche e le specifiche dei palazzi meravigliosi che compongono Uxmal (in rete troviamo precise e perfette guide!), noi abbiamo optato per la visita in notturna... evento che, a dire la verità ci ha un po' deluso... ci aspettavamo si il racconto della storia di Uxmal, ma che fosse rappresentata con spettacoli di attori/ballerini... invece è una rappresentazione esclusivamente vocale (spagnolo!), ma abbinata ad un gioco di luci che esaltavano la bellezza delle fattezze degli edifici, sotto un incredibile cielo stellato illuminato da una fantastica luna piena.

Now ... leaving the historical notions and the specifications of the marvelous buildings in Uxmal (on the net we find precise and perfect guides!), we opted for the night visit ... an event that, to tell the truth, has a little 'disappointed ... we expected the story of Uxmal to be told, but that it was represented with shows of actors / dancers ... Instead it is an exclusively vocal representation (Spanish!), but combined with a play of lights that exalted the beauty of the features of the buildings, under an incredible starry sky illuminated by a fantastic full moon.

E' il primo museo dedicato a questo cibo, e fa parte di un circuito internazionale situati in vari Paesi anche europei: Praga, Parigi, Bruges, Bruxelles e Valladolid (Messico).

Il circuito prevede anche una zona dove possiamo ammirare la fauna della regione, una convivenza gestita da Unidad de Manejo Ambiental para la Conservación de la Vida Silvestre (UMA) e come dice il cartello: "Non è uno zoo. Gli animali che vediamo sono stati salvati da cuccioli dai maltrattamenti, e non avendo avuto una educazione da parte dei genitori effettivi, non potrebbero sopravvivere nella selva"
